In a significant move to support the global funeral services sector, Kalandra Education has officially opened enrolments for the New Zealand Diploma in Embalming (Level 5) to overseas students who are already practicing in the industry.
Recognised for its high standards in health science and vocational education, this specialised programme provides in-depth theoretical and practical training in embalming, anatomy, pathology, chemistry, health and safety, and grief support. Designed for those with prior embalming experience, the diploma is delivered by qualified professionals with extensive industry backgrounds and ensures that graduates meet best practice standards while upholding cultural sensitivities in the care of the deceased.
“This is more than just a technical qualification—it’s a calling,” says Dr Christine Clark, CE and Founder. “We’re proud to offer this qualification to experienced embalmers worldwide who wish to enhance their skills and contribute meaningfully to their communities.”
New Zealand’s reputation for excellence in health-related education makes it an ideal destination for learners seeking a unique blend of cultural awareness, academic rigour, and hands-on experience. Graduates of the diploma are highly regarded across both local and international funeral sectors.
Applications are now open for the 21 July intake. Flexible delivery options are available, including practical placements in approved funeral homes.
