No Cost HCA Training to Meet Projected Spike in Demand 

 

The impact of Covid-19 and the accompanying increase in healthcare demands is expected to compound an already existing nationwide shortage in Health Care Assistants.

Kalandra is eliminating financial barriers by providing No Cost training and Health Care Assistant retraining for New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents.

In response to the rapidly changing and critical situation presented by Covid-19, Kalandra is providing a two week Pre-enrolment course that will enable learners who are new to the Health sector to quickly meet the entry requirments for the June 2 and June 15 intakes of the Certificate in Health Assistance (Aged Care) (Level 3) 

Students will complete the Pre-enrolment course will be work safe and with the below knowledge can work as an introductory health care assistant contributing appropriate HCA skills in the aged care sector.

  • Infection control measures
  • Provision of personal cares 
  • Moving and handling the client
  • Supporting the nutritional needs of the client
  • Bed making

After successully finishing the Pre-enrolment course, learners will commence the 31-week Certificate and at successful completion will graduate with the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) with a strand Healthcare Assistance.
